Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse complex data in workplace contexts to inform data integration strategies. It includes analysing data trends and contextualising insights according to industry and organisational requirements.

The unit applies to individuals who may work in a variety of roles across a range of industries such as professional, scientific and technical services, who independently analyse complex data in workplace contexts.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1.4 Source analysis documentation for cleansed data from required personnel

2. Analyse data and contextualise insights

2.1 Analyse cleansed data according to work brief

2.2 Finalise data analysis according to organisational policies and procedures

2.3 Assess reliability, accuracy and validity of data analysis

2.4 Identify trends and patterns in data analysis insights

2.5 Align analysis insights with objectives of specific industries according to work brief

3. Build data integration strategy based on contextualised insights

3.1 Confirm that analysis insights are contextualised appropriately according to work brief

3.2 Produce data integration strategy using contextualised insights for required industry

Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

  • contextualise at least one data analysis for at least two different industries or workplace contexts
  • create at least one data integration strategy for an organisation or work area from that analysis.

In the course of the above, the candidate must:

  • distribute data integration strategy to required work area
  • apply required organisational policies and procedures.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

  • functions and features of complex data components, including data:
  • quality
  • speeds
  • volume
  • sources
  • industry-recognised methods to reliably research industry trends and data requirements
  • common types of analysis technologies and resources for advanced data
  • industry-recognised data lifecycle stages
  • characteristics of reliable, accurate and valid data analysis
  • key methods of identifying trends and patterns in advanced datasets
  • advanced data validity and capture methods
  • common methods for evaluating the reliability of data sources
  • characteristics of advanced data integration strategies
  • methods to contextualise data analysis insights to industry and organisational requirements
  • methods and technologies used to store organisational data
  • organisational formats for documentation and reports
  • organisational policies and procedures, and legislative requirements relating to work tasks.

Assessment Conditions

Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.

This includes access to:

  • technology and resources to analyse advanced data
  • organisational data storage technologies
  • work brief and organisational policies and procedures required to demonstrate the performance evidence.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
